As a cornerstone of American dining for over a century, A&W Restaurants proudly concluded 2024 with 429 locations open or in development across the U.S. The brand opened 10 new locations in key markets, including Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa, contributing to impressive same-store sales growth and setting the stage for exciting innovations in the year ahead.

In 2024, A&W Restaurants awarded five new franchise agreements, emphasizing both the strength of its existing franchisees and the pursuit of sustainable expansion. Franchisees from over a decade ago now account for half of A&W Restaurants’ locations, mainly in prime markets. In 2025, it is projected that 60% of new locations will be opened by these established partners, showcasing their strong performance and satisfaction with A&W Restaurants’ business model.

A&W Restaurants also made significant technological strides in 2024, implementing a centralized POS system in 100 locations to enhance sales reporting and operational efficiency. In addition, online ordering was introduced through the brand’s website and app, allowing customers to easily personalize their service experience.
