DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Ogden recently completed a bathroom makeover for a local Army veteran and his wife after their original 1952 bathroom had become unsafe.
The project was led by Nate Coombs, a veteran and owner of DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Ogden. Coombs and his business partner, Kevin Hansen, were also recently named 2026 Franchisees of the Year by the International Franchise Association for business leadership, community involvement, workforce development and service to others.
The couple had faced several costly repairs in the older home, including asbestos, electrical updates and plumbing issues. Their bathroom still worked, but a leaking shower faucet created moisture concerns, and the bathing area had become a safety issue because of the veteran’s service-related physical limitations.
DreamMaker of Ogden selected the couple from a group of applicants because of their accessibility needs, financial need and the difference a safer bathroom would make in their daily life.
The remodel included removing the old bath/shower area, opening the walls and plumbing, and rebuilding the space with a more accessible shower. Coombs documented the project from the original bathroom through demolition, construction and installation.
For Coombs, serving the community is part of how he leads DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Ogden, and this project gave his team a practical way to help a fellow veteran.
“As a veteran-owned company, we are deeply grateful for the sacrifices made by our nation’s service members,” Coombs said. “It is an honor to give back by providing a safer, more accessible bathroom that will improve comfort, independence and quality of life for years to come.”
